Escape To Cali - Colombia - South America

Nature and The Andes

Cali is the capital of The Valle de Cauca and is located in the valley and foothills of the Western Colombian Andes. Though a bustling city of over 2.5 million residents, it’s lush mountains and valleys are home to over 300 types of birds, the Cali River, the Pance river and the Cauca River, as well as hiking and biking trails, both within the city and in the outskirts of town.

Cali is blessed with a great location and access to a wide range of flora and fauna, as well as landscapes and wildlife. Not many cities in the world can offer what Cali has, both within the city borders and just outside of town.

Cloud forests are located only 20-30 minutes outside of Cali in the Bosque Niebla de San Antonio, located around the area known as Kilometro 18. The area has been designated as a Bird Conservation Location and with over 200 species of birds dominating its lush canopies, it’s one of the best bird watching locales in Colombia, and therefore the world!

South of Cali, 30 minutes from the city center, is the area known as Pance. Home to a newly redesigned EcoParque Pance (Pance EcoPark), as well as the famous Pance River, this area has long been the local weekend and holiday spot for Caleños looking to spend time with family and friends, and cook the famous local soup known as Sancocho de Gallina. Higher up in the mountains, the river flows more rapidly with the incline and offers great spots to lay in the sun and listen to the river rush by with gorgeous views of lush Andean slopes.

Through Cali, heading west, runs the principal route to the Pacific Coast of Colombia, one of only two roads that give access to the Pacific, and the only road with access to the most bio-diverse region on the earth, el Chocó. Heading towards the Pacific, about 2.5 hours from Cali, just outside of Buenaventura, is a magical location known as San Cipriano. Crystal clear rivers and waterfalls surrounded by rich jungle, make this landscape unforgettable.
